Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Pricing is firm and depending on the project, you may be given a higher rate if the job you've requested does not match the work that needs to be done or requires additional steps or materials, but this will always be discussed before confirming the project.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I prefer to stay in contact via the Thumbtack platform directly. If we decided to do future work, we can do so directly via text and/or e-mail. Pictures are always helpful as well.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I've had no certificated or formal training related to the work I do, but all tasks I offer I've had hands-on experience with.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've done home maintenance for 15+ years and appreciate that projects can be stressful and expensive. I realized that others felt these same frustrations and could benefit from my experience.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I primarily work with homeowners, property management and small business owners.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I do a lot of toilet replacements and know all parts and aspects of the project. I recently did a replacement that required several extra steps including leveling and replacing the water supply shut-off valve. The customer claimed it was now the fanciest thing in their bathroom. The whole process took just under 2 hours.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Give as much detail as possible. Anything you can provide when submitting for the job upfront is not only extremely helpful but will significantly increase the chance of getting a quick response. And send pictures!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Do they know where water and power shut-offs are? Will the project benefit from a step stool? Is there anything that can be done to prep the project before the professional arrives? (ex: clearing out under a sink before plumbing work is done.)
